Holiday Season Get-Together!

Holiday Season Get-Together!

Here are the details of our upcoming dinner including updates (I wanted to put all the information in one place).

Dinner @ Passage to India on 22nd November!

I’ve been promising for a while that I would organize a DinnerĀ for us all to comeĀ together. It’s been a while since our last one at the Cinnamon Lounge. That went really well and hopefully we can make this one even more fun.

I’ve had several students recommend Passage to India to me saying it’s a great venue with great food.

I recently visited the restaurant for a food tasting and I completely agree, especially considering they charge significantly less per head than the other restaurants I checked out (Ā£25 a head for a three-course meal).

Date (22/11/24)

I have booked The Passage to India restaurant for the FridayĀ evening ofĀ 22ndĀ of November (6.30pm onwards).

Address

Here is the restaurant’s address and contact details;

Passage to India
170 Heston Rd,
Heston,
Hounslow TW5 0QU
020 8572 5399

TheĀ restaurant isĀ walking distance from where we have our classes. This means it should be easy for all of us to get to.

Menu

Food
3 Course meal including;
6 Starters
4 Mains
1 Dessert

Drinks

Free Soft Drinks (Juice, Sprite & Diet Coke)

Alcoholic Drinks – We can bring our own spirits & wine, but if we want beer we have to buy it from the restaurant.

I will provide a more detailedĀ menu very soon.

ExclusivityĀ

The restaurant informedĀ me that if we can getĀ 80 peopleĀ to book they will let us have the whole placeĀ to ourselves.

This means we will have complete control of their sound system and can play any music we want.

They also offered toĀ move the tables off to the sides after we eat so that we can have space to dance the evening away if we wish!

If we get exclusivity we also haveĀ the option of having a live DJ come in and / or live singers to perform for us!

Cost

I have added a voluntary £5 to the price which will go towards paying for free classes to the elderly in Heston. I explain in more detail below.

Here’s a breakdown of the prices;

Adults – Ā£30 (includes £5 donation)
Adults – Ā£25 (without Ā£5 donation)
Children aged 5-10 years – Ā£12.50
Children under 5 – FREE

PaymentĀ UpfrontĀ (non-refundable)Ā

In order to secure our booking with the restaurant, I need to take payment upfront.

If 80 or more of us book we will have the place to ourselves and the option of having a live DJ come in and / or live singers to perform for us.

Please confirm you’re interestedĀ by FridayĀ so I can finalize everythingĀ with the restaurant.

Everyone’s invited so feel free to bring your friends and family, but get back to me by FridayĀ please.

The restaurants maximum capacity is not much more than 80 and there were more of us then that at the cinnamon lounge, so I recommend booking asap to avoid disappointment.

Helping The Elderly of Heston

As our yoga classes have become more well known in the local area,Ā I’veĀ hadĀ elderly people contact meĀ seeking free classes to help them improve their health and make friends.

They are often in physical pain, struggling financiallyĀ and socially isolated, often their partner has passed away and their only real social contact is through infrequentĀ visits from family members.

Many of our older generation in Heston made huge sacrifices coming to the UK and workedĀ hard to overcome many barriers to establishĀ themselvesĀ in a culture and environment very different from the one they grew up in, all the while knowing that the ones who would ultimately benefit would be their children and grandchildren.

As many of you know, I am a carer to my elderly parents who are struggling with a variety of difficult physical and cognitive challenges. My parents are very fortunate to have people caring for them.

Other old people are much less fortunate and I want do something to help them too.

Ideally I would give them free sessions in the park to create a social environment for them, give them back their mobility, and make them as pain free as possible.

However many of them are too frail to be out in all weather and requireĀ chairs to exercise or rest on. That means I need to hire a hall and raise funds to pay the hall fees.

The halls being offered in Heston during the day charge around £30 an hour. So for every £30 I raise I can give a free class of 1 hour to those who need it the most.

I am also working on obtaining charitable donations andĀ grants from various organizations. In order to obtain a grant IĀ need to show I can organize events toĀ raise funds, handle and spend the money responsibly, and deliver good results.

I’m hoping to raise Ā£300 which will give meĀ 10 solid hoursĀ to improve their mobility, reduce their pain,Ā give them the freedom to move around again, and build their social life andĀ improve their emotional well-being.

Every £5 voluntary donation will go a long way to helping many of the most vulnerable in our community.

If you’re feeling especially generous, feel free to make a bigger donation!
